India and Pakistan's cross-border media clash
A look at the conundrum of cross-border coverage on the Indian sub-continent.
When the British pulled out of India nearly 70 years ago, the country was split in two and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was born.
I am not very sure that the placing of Indian correspondents in Pakistan, or the Pakistani correspondents in India is the solution. The problem is, the system on both sides is controlled by intelligence agencies. They make life miserable for you.

Since then, India and Pakistan have fought three wars, accused each other of terrorist attacks and continue to dispute the northern region of Kashmir.
The political tension is often reflected and amplified in the media of both countries and it has affected their ability to report on one another.
Since 2014 there have been no Indian reporters based in Pakistan and it has been even longer since a Pakistani reporter has been based in India.
India and Pakistan are home to two of South Asia's most active media landscapes. The caricatures, the cat fights and chaos on their airwaves reflects and sometimes amplifies the tensions between the two countries.
